Discover the Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer difference
Welcome to Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer, where passion meets performance and every athlete is part of our family. Learn what makes us unique and how we create an unforgettable cheer experience.
Who We Are
Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer is a youth nonprofit program proudly entering our second season of building spirit, confidence, and community. We welcome athletes ages 4–14 from every corner of Bakersfield. No boundaries, no restrictions, just a shared love for cheer.
Our teams travel as far as Visalia for sideline games, bringing energy and support to our Buckeyes football family. And while we hold “tryouts,” they’re simply a way to place athletes where they’ll grow best. Every child who wants to cheer makes a team!
We’re here to create opportunity, build friendships, and give every athlete a place to shine.
Our Mission
At Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer, our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and positive environment where young athletes can succeed. On the sidelines, on the mat, and in life. We are committed to keeping our program affordable, accessible, and open to all, with no area boundaries and no limitations on who can join. Every child in Bakersfield deserves the chance to cheer, grow, and shine.
We work hard to create a non-political, family focused atmosphere where athletes and their families feel supported, respected, and truly part of a community. Our goal is to build a program where athletes ages 4–14 can develop confidence, discipline, and lifelong friendships while having fun and feeling at home.
We believe cheer should be a place where every athlete can thrive. We’re dedicated to making that a reality for every Buckeye who walks through our doors.
Core values
At Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer, we’re dedicated to developing athletes who grow in their skills, character, and everyday lives. Our program is grounded in core values that shape how we train and support one another:
Teamwork: We rely on each other, work as one, and lift one another up.
Confidence: We help athletes recognize their strengths and step forward with courage.
Sportsmanship: We compete with integrity, show pride, and treat everyone with respect.
Growth: We celebrate progress, encourage effort, and make the journey positive and fun.
These principles shape a program where athletes are empowered to grow and achieve their best.
Where it all started
The Bakersfield Buckeyes were founded in February 2025 by a dedicated mom and daughter coaching duo with a deep passion for the cheer world. After years of coaching for another league, we realized the environment wasn’t truly centered around the kids. We wanted something better! Something fair, uplifting, and genuinely focused on the athletes.
Determined to create a place where young cheerleaders could thrive, we began reaching out to other leagues in search of a program that aligned with our values. That’s when All Valley stepped in and invited us to build a brand‑new team right here in Bakersfield.
From day one, the vision was clear: a program that puts kids first, celebrates fairness, and brings an unmatched level of energy, creativity, and heart.
And in our very first season, that vision came to life. The Bakersfield Buckeyes not only grew into a strong, spirited team but we pushed all the way to Nationals in Las Vegas, an incredible milestone for a brand‑new program!
Today, we continue to build on that foundation of passion, fairness, and fun, creating a cheer experience that’s truly “extra” in all the best ways.
All Valley Youth Football and Cheer
The Bakersfield Buckeyes are part of the All Valley Youth Football and Cheer league, which includes over 22 different teams across Central CA. The league was founded 28 years ago, making it a long-standing organization dedicated to youth development through football and cheerleading.

More than just sideline cheer
Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer is proud to offer both sideline and competition cheer, giving our athletes the chance to experience the full spirit of the sport.
Our sideline season begins with practices in April and officially kicks off in August, running through the end of November. During this time, our athletes cheer at games including travel games as far as Visalia, supporting our Buckeyes football teams with energy and pride!
When sideline season wraps up in November, our competition season begins. The length of the competition season depends on how far our team's advance. Simply put, the more we win, the longer we go. The longest possible season runs from November through late January, ending at JAMZ Youth Nationals, typically held during the last two weeks of January.
To join a Bakersfield Buckeyes competition team, athletes must have participated in the previous sideline season. Competition is completely optional, giving families the flexibility to choose the path that fits them best.
We’re proud to offer a program that lets athletes experience both the excitement of game‑day cheer and the challenge of competitive performance.

Practice Info: When and Where we train
Bakersfield Buckeyes Cheer typically practices two hours a day, three times a week. Practice days and times may occasionally change due to weather, air quality, holidays, or other circumstances.
Our home field is Garces High School; however, during their regular sports seasons, we are unable to use their field and facilities. When this happens, we temporarily relocate practices to a nearby park or an available indoor facility to ensure our athletes can continue training safely and consistently.
